CHA Hornets Win +3.5CHA Hornets @ TOR Raptors
The Toronto Raptors (22-22) will host the Charlotte Hornets (26-21) following their 114-105 home loss to the Portland Trailblazers on Sunday night. The Raptors have lost 3 of their last 5 games by an average margin of 6.0 ppg despite having the majority of their roster available in each of those games. The Raptors are barely ranked in the top half of the league in offensive and defensive efficiency (14th in both) and have played subpar basketball (2-5) since their 5-0 win streak to bring in the new year. The visiting Hornets are coming off of a 113-91 home loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night. The Hornets are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are winning by an average margin of 12.9 ppg in that span. Charlotte, who ranks 5th in offensive efficiency and 2nd in points per game, has had 3 separate players score 30 or more point in their last 10 games, asthings have certainly been scary for their opponents as Terry Rozier is averaging 21.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 6.0 apg while shooting 45.3% from the field and 39.2% from three in that span.
The Raptors have won 3 of the last 5 meetings against the Hornets, but have only won by an average margin of just 2.7 ppg in those games. Both teams are also playing the 1st game of a back-to-back and both teams will have to travel to play in a different location tomorrow night. While the Hornets are just 13-14 on the road, the Raptors, who will continue to play without fans in Scotiabank Arena, are an even 14-14 at home. Take the Hornets to cover tonight’s spread on the road.

DEN Nuggets Win -6.5DEN Nuggets @ DET Pistons
The story of the Nuggets is how Nikola Jokic is singlehandedly keeping them afloat in the Western Conference. These teams actually met in their last game, in Denver, and Jokic posted a ling of 34/9/8 in the win. Now they are playing in Detroit, but it is doubtful the Pistons have come up with a way to defend him. No other player scored more than 13 points in the 6 point win. Getting supporting production has been a challenge.
Detroit needed a flurry in the 4th quarter to make the game against Denver respectable. Four players each scored 18 points to lead the team, the most notable was big man Trey Lyles who did so off the bench. They are desperate to find production beyond wings Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey and Lyles has some size to possibly bother Jokic. Detroit has lost their last 2 games but has covered in 3 straight.
The final margin when these teams just meant was not really reflective of the first 3 quarters of the game. That creates a small buying opportunity with Denver I think. They are hitting the road but still have a massive advantage inside. Detroit is 11-10 ATS at home this season but I am still leaning to Denver. That record is better than I expected but without any real sustained advantage, it is hard to like that side.

WAS Wizards Win -4.5LA Clippers @ WAS Wizards
The Washington Wizards (23-24) will host the Los Angeles Clippers (23-25) following their 116-87 home loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday night. The Wizards are 5-7 since the start of the new year and are losing by an average margin of 9.8 ppg in that span. Now 10th in Eastern Conference standings, Washington will be playing in the final game of an 8 game homestand, which they are currently 3-4. Bradley Beal has led the team in both points and assists in their last 3 games and is averaging 22.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, and 8.0 apg in that span. The visiting Clippers are coming off of a 110-102 road loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday night. The Clippers, who are also 5-7 this month, have now lost 3 of their last 5 games by an average margin of 5.7 ppg. The Clippers who sit at 9th in Western Conference standings will play the 4th game of an 8-game road trip, which they are currently 1-2. Reggie Jackson, who has led the team in both points and assists in 2 of their last 3 games is averaging 24.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, and 8.7 apg in that span.
While the Clippers have won 3 of their last 5 meetings against the Wizards, the Wizards have won 2 games at home and are 13-11 at home while the Clippers are just 8-13 on the road this season. Washington is also scoring 110.2 ppg at home this season which is 5.0 more points than they average on the road, while the Clippers are scoring 103.7 ppg which 2.7 fewer points than they average at home. Take the Wizards to cover tonight’s spread at home.

Daily NBA Betting Predictions 13 January

NO Pelicans Win +8.5NO Pelicans @ PHI 76ers
With 5 wins over their last 8 games, the New Orleans Pelicans look nothing alike the team that started off the season with just 1 win in their first 13 games. Big man Jonas Valanciunas and Brandon Ingram have been putting up numbers since the new year started and all of a sudden this team is in 11th place in the West, just 2 games back from a play-in tournament spot. They are on a 2-game win streak after beating the Knicks and Pacers, but tonight they face a Sixers team that has beaten them by 20 points earlier this season, so revenge will be on their mind in Philadelphia tonight.
There’s nobody in the NBA playing at the level of Joel Embiid right now. Dating back to December 24th, the big man has scored 30 or more points in 13 of 14 games and he is averaging 34.1 points per game over his last 10 outings despite playing just 31.8 minutes per game. He is entering Wilt Chamberlain territory with those numbers, but despite his heroics the Sixers are just 6th in the East. If they can flip Ben Simmons for someone really good before the trade deadline, then the 76ers could become a title contender, but until that happens I’m not getting my hopes up for them. Philly is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games, but they’ll be shorthanded in tonight’s game with Seth Curry not playing and Danny Green is also questionable with a hip problem.
Although they’ve beaten the Pelicans by 20 earlier this season, New Orleans is playing a lot better right now. Embiid had only 22 points in that game, he will get tested by Jonas Valanciunas in tonight’s game. With them already being shorthanded as is, losing a player like Curry could prove to be too much to overcome here. I’m backing the road team to cover in this one.

BKN Nets WinLA Lakers @ BKN Nets
Lakers fans can finally rejoice as Anthony Davis returns to the line-up tonight after missing more than a month of play due to a MCL injury. The Lakers have just 2 wins in their last 7 games and are in desperate need of help after dropping below .500 once again after the defeat at Miami the other night. They are only 8th in the West at the moment, but with AD back their fortunes should change. It might take some time for them to implement him into the offense though, on the road they’ve won just 8 of 20 games this season and have already lost to the Nets once at home even though Brooklyn was without both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
And they’ll be without those 2 in tonight’s game as well, but judging by the earlier meeting this season they won’t be bothered too much by that. James Harden and Patty Mills combined for 70 points in that win and the Nets have gone 6-4 in the last 10 head-to-head, winning 2 of the 3 most recent meetings. Even though the Nets are just 1-7 ATS at home in their last 8 games, they’ll be encouraged with their 16-4 SU record in the last 20 games vs Pacific Division teams. They’ve also won 13 of their last 16 games played on a Tuesday, so Nets fans are optimistic ahead of tonight’s game.
LA might have the bigger names on paper, but they’ve struggled for consistency all season long. The Nets enter tonight’s game as underdogs, they have a 6-3 SU record in 9 such games. Even with a healthy Davis the Lakers have gone just 13-14 and with Brooklyn already beating them once, I’m siding with the home team in this one.

SAC Kings Win +8.5SAC Kings @ BOS Celtics
The Boston Celtics (24-24) will host the Sacramento Kings (18-30) following their 116-87 road win over the Washington Wizards on Sunday night. The Celtics, who have won 3 of their last 5 games by an average margin of 14.3 ppg, currently sit at 8th in Eastern Conference standings. Jayson Tatum, who has led his team in points, rebounds, and assists in each of their last 2 games, is averaging 28.0 ppg, 9.2 rpg, and 4.8 apg in his last 5 games. Boston ranks in the bottom-10 teams in offensive efficiency, but top-5 in defensive efficiency. The visiting Kings are coming off of a 133-127 road loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night. Sacramento enters tonight’s game on a 3 game losing streak, including consecutive losses to the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons, while losing by an average margin of 4.7 ppg in that span. The Kings currently rank in the bottom-half of the league in both offensive and defensive efficiency.
While the Celtics are 15-10 at home this season, they are scoring 106.6 ppg at home which is actually 2.1 points fewer than they average on the road. Additionally, the Kings are scoring 111.8 ppg on the road this season which is 2.2 more points than they average at home. Lastly, the Kings have won 3 of their last 5 meetings against the Celtics and have only lost by an average margin of 3.5 ppg in Boston in the last 3 seasons. Take the Kings to cover tonight’s spread on the road.

DAL Mavericks Win +3.5DAL Mavericks @ GS Warriors
Dallas has continued their strong month of January with a home win over Memphis. They are now 10-2 SU to start 2022 and that last win means they are making up some ground on the Grizzlies in the Southwest Division. Managing all of their injuries and absences have revealed that guard Jalen Brunson is an important scorer for Dallas that they can play with Luke Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. They seem to have finally found their best lineup.
Over the weekend guard Klay Thompson was unavailable. He is questionable for Tuesday night and they are definitely going to be careful with him. They were missing forward Draymond Green too but were still able to nip Utah at home by a bucket. That is the second game in a row they won by just a couple of points. Seth Curry did not have a good game, just 1 of 13 from behind the arc. With Dallas coming to town there will be some juice for this one.
On the surface, it looks like the Mavericks are getting the Warriors at the perfect time. Dallas is playing great and while Golden State has been winning, but just barely. Eventually, they are going to drop a game they shouldn’t (one where they are favored) and this looks like a spot. The Warriors do not lose many games, but they are just 16-17 ATS after a SU win. That is generally the time to get them. After SU losses they are nearly unbeatable, 11-2 SU and 9-4 ATS. Also, Dallas whooped GS earlier in the month too, 99-82

  November 3 Betting Predictions

MIN Timberwolves Win -3.0MIN Timberwolves @ POR Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers (20-26)  will host the Minnesota Timberwolves (23-23) following their 114-105 road win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night. The Blazers, who are 7-4 since the start of the year, have won 4 of their last 5 games by an average margin of 7.0 ppg. Portland ranks in the bottom-half of the league in offensive efficiency and in the bottom-3 teams of the league in defensive efficiency. Damian Lillard (abdomen) and Larry Nance Jr. (knee) will remain sidelined for tonight’s game while Cody Zeller and Norman Powell are game-time decisions. The visiting Timberwolves are coming off of a 136-125 home win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night. The Timberwolves, who are also 7-4 since the start of the new year, have won 3 of their last 5 games by an average margin of 11.0 ppg. Minnesota currently ranks in the bottom-half of the league offensively, but within the top-10 teams of the league on defense. Patrick Beverley (ankle) will be sidelined for tonight’s game while Anthony Edwards (leg) is a game-time decision.
The Timberwolves are certainly turning heads with their much-improved play this season. Minnesota currently sits at 7th in Western Conference standings and their trio of Karl Anthony-Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D‘Angelo Russell, are all averaging above 20.0 ppg in their games against the Blazers. Minnesota has also won 3 of their last 5 meetings against Portland by an average margin 7.0 ppg. Take the Timberwolves to cover tonight’s spread.
